How is my baby growing and developing during week 37?

At 37 weeks of pregnancy, doctors consider your baby full-term. This means that the baby's lungs are usually developed enough to adapt to the changes in oxygen levels outside of the womb. However, most doctors recommend allowing the baby more time to develop, and will not usually perform a cesarean section until the 39th week of pregnancy. Your baby now has more distinct cycles of sleeping and waking. During waking hours, your baby will continue to actively kick, even though it is becoming quite cramped.
