Dr. Michael Roizen answered:The most common cause is a UTI, but other things can cause it too, like certain diseases or bleeding disorders. Trauma, such as a car accident or even overly strenuous exercise, can cause internal damage that leads to blood in the urine. If you see blood in your urine after trauma, visit the doctor or emergency room. You can also get red urine if you have eaten berries, beets, some vegetable dyes, and other foods. When in doubt, have your doctor test your urine.
