The Arthritis Foundation is actively educating the general public about arthritis in these ways:

    • increasing the public knowledge and adoption of low-impact,
moderate-intensity aerobic physical exercise to prevent or delay
progression of osteoarthritis of the hip and/or knee
    • promoting nutrition and weight management for the entire United
States to prevent obesity and the osteoarthritis problems it
           causes
    • conducting public health education on how to self-manage
           osteoarthritis
    • enforcing policies that have been shown to reduce osteoarthritis-
related joint injuries, such as motor vehicle laws and sports-
           related policies

The Arthritis Foundation is also lobbying to increase the awareness of osteoarthritis in lawmakers and those who give and receive federal and state grant money for osteoarthritis research.
