Exercise, yoga and meditation can all help reduce stress and anxiety. Stretching jaw and fact muscles can also help. As stress and anxiety are commonly causes for bruxism, or teeth grinding, this may help you to relax and prevent tightening and clenching of the jaw.

Stretching and massage techniques can help manage bruxism by reducing pain and clenching of the jaw muscles. Physical therapy exercises that stretch muscles and joints on both sides of the head will help restore a normal balance to jaw movement. You can also relieve pain in the head and face by massaging trigger points in the face, neck, and shoulders.  While this may help alleviate pain, it will not resolve the cause of pain.  Patients should see their dentist.
