    Most headaches are not serious. If you should have an usual headache contact your health care provider immediately. If your headache is described as the worse one ever, it is important that you contact your healthcare provider or go to the nearest emergency room.

    Headaches are serious from two viewpoints. First, which is what most worry about, is that they are a symptom of a serious underlying condition, like a brain tumor. This is considered during the evaluation but fortunately, is rarely the case. Secondly, they are serious if they disable you. Headaches cause people to miss work or personal time and there can harm their profession and personal lives.
