Are there alternative treatments for keratitis?

Keratitis is a serious condition that, if untreated, can lead to vision loss or even loss of your eye. Keratitis can be caused by a bacterial or viral infection, but it can also be caused by irritation or scratches to the eye. It is extremely important to get proper medical treatment to kill the underlying bacteria or virus that caused your condition. There are no medically recognized alternative treatments. However, maintaining proper hygiene, especially when dealing with contact lenses or other object that will touch your eye, can help you recover and maintain good eye health. If your keratitis is caused by irritation or a scratch, an eye patch and artificial tears will usually work in place of prescription medications.
