Is there anyone who shouldn't use acupuncture treatment?

Johns Hopkins Medicine answered:Most people can have acupuncture therapy, but among the people who should avoid it are:
- People with acute irregular heartbeat, or heart failure
- People who are taking anticoagulants within two weeks.
- People with liver failure
- People with unstable diabetes
If you wear a pacemaker, you may not be eligible for acupuncture, depending on the type of therapy you choose. Some acupuncture involves using not just the needles, but needles that provide some electrical stimulation. If that's the procedure, and you have a pacemaker, you cannot use it, since it's likely to disrupt your pacemaker's action. (This applies if you have a neurological pacemaker, too. Its more technical name is the vagus nerve stimulator.)
There can be other conditions that may make you determine whether acupuncture is right for you. Talk to your doctor and also to an acupuncturist.
