Are there any risks in using resveratrol?
-
Stacy Wiegman answered:Unless you are allergic to the foods or compounds in the foods that contain resveratrol, there is little risk in getting it from its plant food forms, such as grapes, blueberries, and the Japanese knotweed. If you get your resveratrol from red wine there may be additional risks associated with consuming alcohol or combining alcohol with certain foods, medications, or activities. There are risks in taking resveratrol in a concentrated or supplement form. Taking resveratrol while also using blood thinners, aspirin, or warfarin, could cause adverse affects. If you have a blood condition, or are pregnant or breast feeding resveratrol may not be right for you to take as a supplement at this time. Also, if you have an illness that is affected by estrogen production, such as breast cancer, speak to your doctor before taking this as a supplement.
