Treating your allergy symptoms should not interfere with your indoor fun, but it can. Antihistamines can cause a temporary form of erectile dysfunction (ED). Some antihistamines are also used to treat heartburn, motion sickness, and other conditions, not just allergies. Antihistamines that have been associated with erectile dysfunction include cimetidine (Tagamet), dimenhydrinate (Dramamine), diphenhydramine (Benadryl), and promethazine (Phenergan). If you are taking these medicines and find yourself having trouble getting and maintaining an erection, you may be lucky. Switching meds may cure your problem. If it is an over-the-counter medicine, try a different one. If your good doc prescribed it, talk to him about an alternative.
