What are the alternatives to getting root form dental implants?

Dr. De Vizio of Colgate answered:Root form dental implants aren't appropriate for all people. If you don't have adequate bone structure in the jaw, your dentist may use a different type of implant to replace missing teeth. If you're not a candidate for any type of dental implant, the main options include:
- Dentures. Dentures are removable false teeth. You can replace all or most of your natural teeth with a complete denture. Or you may only need to replace a few missing teeth with a partial denture.
- Bridges. A traditional dental bridge is a device consisting of an artificial tooth attached to two crowns, also called caps. (A bridge can also have more than one artificial tooth.) The artificial tooth fills a gap in the teeth. It is supported by the crowns, which fit over the teeth on either side of the gap. There are also other types of dental bridges available.

Dr. Amit Somani answered:Dental implants are one solution to replace missing teeth. Alternatives include partial dentures, a bridge, and other options your dentist may be able to provide. A partial denture is a removable appliance that is typically used to replace a few missing teeth. It is anchored and stabilized with teeth you have in your mouth as well as soft tissue/gums. A bridge is a fixed device that is uses the teeth in front and behind to anchor it and replace the missing tooth/teeth. Implants are titanium posts surgically placed in your jawbone that later supports a crown. Dr. Dan Jenkins answered:If you are wanting an alternative to root form implants but still want to stay away from dentures you may discuss with an implant dentist the options available. One option is an implant in conjunction with a bone graft. Other options might even involve an implant with a grid work that sits under the gum but on top of the bone. No doubt, each case is unique and you should have it evaluated to receive a proper accurate answer.
