John Lipman, MD, Interventional Radiology, answeredFibroids can be as small as a pea or as large as a small melon. It can enlarge the uterus just like a developing baby does. Gynecologists will often describe a woman who they are examining with fibroids in terms of the corresponding size of a pregnant woman.
