Fibroids can be as small as a pea or as large as a small melon. It can enlarge the uterus just like a developing baby does. Gynecologists will often describe a woman who they are examining with fibroids in terms of the corresponding size of a pregnant woman. For example, a woman whose fibroids have enlarged her uterus all the way up to her belly button has the uterine size of a 4 month pregnant woman.
