You cannot prevent the development of a seafood allergy. However, you can try to prevent future allergic reactions by limiting your exposure to seafood. Talk to your doctor to try to determine what type of seafood allergy you have. For example, you might have a shellfish allergy, but you can still enjoy traditional scaly fish. Or, you may be allergic to fish but be fine eating shellfish such as lobster and crab. You should also talk to your doctor about other potential triggers, like coral calcium.
