Impaired glucose tolerance is also called prediabetes. It is a condition diagnosed when blood tests show that a person’s blood glucose level falls between normal and diabetes levels. It isn’t considered a form of diabetes, but people with this condition are at an increased risk for developing diabetes.

Impaired Glucose Tolerance (IGT) is an intermediate state of abnormal glucose regulation. It is a stage between how a body normally uses glucose and actual diabetes. Impaired glucose tolerance is defined as a glucose level between 140 and 199 mg/dL two hours after taking an oral glucose tolerance test.
