What causes penis chafing?

Anything that causes rubbing against the skin of the penis can result in rawness and irritation. Vigorous masturbation without lube, going commando in pants with rough material, or rug/sheet burns can all result in chafing. Avoiding friction on the area usually allows things to clear up in a day or two.

Peyronies disease is the development of a lump or hardened growth on the penis that leads to scar tissue and can eventually cause a permanent deformity to your penis. Other disorders cause inflammation to the penis due to infection. Balanitis is the swelling and irritation of the head of your penis. Phimosis and paraphimosis are caused by inflammation of the foreskin, resulting in the skin not retracting over the penis shaft or not extending over the head of the penis.
