Phosphorus and Nux vomica are natural remedies used to help the body clear out the anesthesia after surgery. Use Phosphorus if you tend to be sensitive to things in general -- if you tend to need a much smaller dose of medications than other people, if you react to perfumes and chemicals in the environment, if you are overly sensitive to others' emotions.

Use Nux vomica if you have overloaded your liver with too much alcohol, fatty and fried foods, junk foods, drugs of all kinds, spicy foods, and all kinds of stimulants. These remedies both help to clear out the liver which may be backed up from a toxic overload. Women are more likely to need Phosphorus and men are more likely to need Nux vomica, but the most important thing is whether your symptoms match. Take a dose (a few pellets of the 30c potency dissolved in your mouth) the morning of the surgery, and try to have someone administer it to you afterwards if possible.

One way to do that: dissolve a couple of pellets in a small amount of water, put it in a small decorative jar, label it Holy Water, and ask the nurses to dab it on your lips and temples if you're not coming around after surgery. Is it holy water? Yes, if you believe in it. Healing is a sacred act, and this can heal you.

Many anesthetics are metabolized by the liver, so it's generally a good idea to support the liver with natural treatments, such as milk thistle and castor oil packs. These protect the liver against toxic effects of the anesthesia and enhance recovery.

For more specific symptomatic relief, such as nausea and vomiting: homeopathic ipecac, acupuncture or moxa of Pericardium 6 are often useful with nutritional IV therapy to replenish loss of fluid and nutrients.

For muscle aches: Magnesium rich Epsom salt baths or warm compresses and MSM

Furthermore, Vitamin A, C, zinc and bioflavonoids are nutrients essential for general surgery recovery.
