Managing your stage 3 melanoma starts, most importantly, with following treatment advice from your doctors. Usually, treatment will involve the immediate removal of the melanoma growth, surrounding tissue, and nearby lymph nodes. Depending on how much the melanoma has spread, doctors may also suggest chemotherapy or other treatment to kill any cancer cells that may have entered other parts of the body. Once you've been treated, you must follow up regularly with your doctor to make sure the melanoma has stopped spreading. It's also important to continue doing self-checks for any changes in moles or new skin growths. If you're recovering from stage 3 melanoma, it's especially important to protect your skin. Be sure to limit sun exposure and protect any exposed skin with strong sunscreen and protective clothing.
