Different male genital problems have different risk factors, but there are some common things that may increase your risk in general. Having multiple sex partners and having unprotected sex increases your risk for problems like sexually transmitted diseases. Having undescended testicles or having a family history of testicular cancer may increase your risk for developing testicular cancer. Also, since many genital injuries occur during sports and other recreational activities, participating in those types of activities may increase your risk for genital injury. Male genital problems may result from normal aging, too, so older men may be at an increased risk for certain problems.
