Serious side effects can occur if a person is allergic to the ingredients in magnesium gluconate or if an overdose has been taken. Symptoms of a severe allergic reaction include: hives, a skin rash, breathing problems, a tight feeling in the chest and swelling in and around the face, mouth or tongue. Signs of an overdose include: an irregular heartbeat, feeling faint or dizzy, paralysis or weakening of the muscles, uncontrollable sweating and hypothermia. Other side effects due to overdose include: a sharp drop in blood pressure, extreme fatigue and flushing.
