Treatment will vary depending on your systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) symptoms and the severity of those symptoms. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), like aspirin, are often used to treat joint pain. Corticosteroids can be used to reduce inflammation throughout the body. Immunosuppressant drugs can help to reduce the risk of SLE's more serious complications, such as damage to major organs. If you have developed any of the complications of SLE, you may need ongoing treatment to manage them.
