    According to the National Cancer Institute's (NCI's) Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) Cancer statistics, the survival rate five years following diagnosis, relative to the general population, for all adult patients with leukemia is 54%. The cure rate for leukemia in adults is usually much lower than for children with the disease. In fact, the most common type of leukemia in children, called acute lymphocytic (ALL), has a cure rate of about 90%.
