Start by asking what you can do to help your spouse to make the desired changes. You can also ask if more information would be helpful, such as figuring out which diet or exercise program would be most effective. If your spouse knows what to do, ask if you can help to create a plan for getting started. Encouragement is important, but action questions can really get the ball rolling.
