If you are denied health insurance coverage, you may be able to secure coverage through a state program that provides coverage for those who have been turned down because of medical history or pre-existing condition. Contact your state government about eligibility for Medicaid, State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), and high-risk pools. You can also contact the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for information about Medicare. Your state’s insurance commission may also have information about laws regarding health insurance options for people who have been denied.
