Generally speaking, you have to meet your deductible before your insurer will begin to pay for covered health care expenses. The way in which you meet your deductible can vary depending on the type of insurance you have. For instance, your Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plan may have one deductible that applies to all of your coverage, but another PPO may have separate deductibles for medical benefits and prescription drug benefits that must be met before coverage begins. Review your plan documents for specific details on your plan’s deductible (if applicable).
