Paul Ehrlich, Allergy & Immunology, answeredI agree with the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN) that foods that cause common allergic reactions should not be banned from school. Their reasoning is twofold: One is that it's not the real world. The second is that many schools convince the parents that they are free of peanuts or other foods that may cause allergies. Allergen-sensitive children and their parents gain a false sense of security and let down their guard.
