National Academy of Sports Medicine answeredIf you’re a fully grown adult there is nothing you can do to increase your actual height. For young people suffering from a lack of height their height can be increased under the supervision of a physician with human growth hormone treatment. For fully grown people the only option is to work on improving posture which will maximize your current height and may improve the appearance of height.
Lindsay Johnson, NASM Elite Trainer, Fitness, answeredAs a personal trainer my corrective exercise specialist certification allows me to help clients rebalance their muscles, and this a lot of times helps the client look much taller. If you are looking to add an inch to your height, and you have not been stretching or exercising to have your best posture, then you can visually add an inch by starting. When you foam roll your muscles you help break down adhesions and allow the muscles to reach their optimal lengths. Your static stretching that follows your foam rolling drills will help keep this muscle in it optimal length. Then, when you incorperate an exercise routine that helps you maintain proper posture, you will stand taller. In my opinion it's the balance of stretching, resistance training to keep your posture strong, and practicing walking tall. Oh, and a pair of high heels always does the trick! Check out my page, I will be adding some videos talking about foam rolling and stretching for your best posture.
