You will probably recover very quickly after getting a cantilever dental bridge. The tooth-shaping part of the procedure is done with local anesthesia, with little or no pain. Putting the bridge into place is also usually painless. You may have some mild soreness for a couple of days following the procedure, which can be treated with over-the-counter ibuprofen (Advil or Motrin). You may need a few days to get used to having the bridge in place while chewing food. During that time, avoid hard, crunchy, or chewy foods and cut soft food into small pieces.
