How does a cantilever dental bridge differ from other dental bridges?

A cantilever dental bridge differs from a traditional dental bridge or a Maryland bonded dental bridge in how it is held in place. Traditional or Maryland bridges are attached to anchor teeth on both sides of the gap left from the missing teeth. A cantilever bridge is used when there is only one tooth next to the gap, as when the missing teeth are the last two back teeth in the jaw. As such, the cantilever bridge is attached to only one tooth.
