During a flare-up, both types of rosacea have the same symptoms and qualities. Both types go through three stages (pre-rosacea, vascular rosacea, and inflammatory rosacea) and both get worse in time if they go untreated. The difference is that once you start showing symptoms of progressive rosacea, it gets steadily worse and does not go away. With cyclic rosacea, even though it will get worse in time, you will experience periods of relief every now and then. Your symptoms will fade for a while before you have another flare-up.
