Of the cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), heart attacks and strokes are the leading causes of death. In fact, about 2,400 people die of a heart attack or stroke each day in the United States. Despite the enormous amounts of money being spent to thwart CVD, including the fixation on lowering cholesterol, lives continue to be lost.
