If you have cavities it's a good idea to avoid very hard and very sticky foods. These foods can get stuck to the cavity filling. In addition, some sugary foods or extremely hot and cold foods may cause you sensitivity.

The types of foods you eat can increase your risk for dental decay. The bacteria on our teeth that cause cavities utilize sugars such as sucrose, fructose and lactose as food sources. These sugars are found in candies, sodas, sweets, fruits, fruit juices and milk products. The bacteria produce acid when they eat these sugars causing demineralization of the enamel and subsequently cavities in the tooth.
