All fractures, including tranverse fractures, need immediate medical attention. If you are with someone who you believe has a fracture, call 911 or take them to an emergency room as soon as possible. Try to avoid moving or touching the affected area. If it is not too painful, icing the area will help numb it and reduce swelling until a doctor can treat the injury. If there is bleeding, apply gentle pressure on the area using a clean cloth or bandage.
