Stacy Wiegman, PharmD, Pharmacy, answeredA very small percentage of children younger than seven years of age have a fever-related seizure eight to 14 days after receiving the mumps vaccine. If your child has had a fever-related seizure, he is more likely to get another one. Also, if another child in the family has had seizures, your child may be at increased risk. Talk to your child's doctor about his personal and family history of seizures before he gets the vaccine.
