Stuart Linder, MD, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, answeredRecently, new methods to enlarge the breasts have evolved. The safety of these methods is still indeterminate. 2 methods include autologous fat grafting and stem-cell injection. Concerns with fat cell grafts may include calcifications, cyst formation, and difficulty with mammograms (misdiagnosis). Stem cells grafting is the newest technique involving using the patient's own cells, centrifuging specific components, and injecting directly into the deep breast tissue. Expectations are cellular growth and enlargement leading to a larger breast without surgery. Breast augmentation, is still considered the GOLD standard by the American Board of Plastic Surgery today.
