Your Doctor will prescribe anticoagulants (blood thinners) for you if they feel it is necessary. If you have any questions, please discuss with your healthcare provider. One way to diagnose a DVT is by a Doppler ultrasonography (ultrasound); an imaging procedure used to diagnose deep vein thrombosis (DVT). With this test doctors can view the veins inside your arms, legs, and torso to check for any irregularities in blood flow that may indicate blockage by a clot. In Doppler ultrasonography, your doctor will move a hand-held device (transducer) over the area of the suspected blood clot. The transducer transmits and receives back sound waves that create a moving picture on a monitor.
