Jeff Croswell , NASM Elite Trainer, Fitness, answeredThere are nothing but positives when it comes to working out. I can't think of one reason not to workout. Working out helps you live such a healthy lifestyle and improves function in so many ways. For one working out helps increase your metabolism which in turn allows you to burn more calories per day. Second it helps you improve your heart and lung function so you can have a healthier blood pressure and resting heart rate. Third working out can help your flexibility to improve your range of motion and avoid tight and stiff muscles. Fourth it helps improve your strength which helps keep your joints in place. Not to mention working out helps you avoid possible health risks like heart attack, stroke and diabetes to name a few. So the real question is why wouldn't you?

Exercise builds self-esteem. Looking your best and feeling good about yourself is a tremendous confidence booster. Recognizing your personal achievements will provide you with a sense of accomplishment and self-worth. A properly designed exercise program will correct muscle imbalances by stretching tight muscles and strengthening weak ones. Additionally, exercise can increase overall fitness, improve sports performance and make daily activities easier to accomplish. Exercise not only provides physical fitness, but also improves mental health as well. Stress relief, mood improvement and a sense of accomplishment are some of the mental health aspects of exercise. If you exercise with friends and family there can also be a social benefit from exercise.
