MediGuard answeredA small percent of patients who take Geodon and Abilify may experience a decrease in sodium levels. However decreased sodium levels with these medicines occurs infrequently - decreased sodium levels were reported in less than 1 in 100 patients taking these medicines during clinical trials. Your doctor most likely feels that the benefits of Abilify outweighs the risk of low sodium. If you keep your doctor's appointments while you are taking Abilify and have your blood levels monitored regularly, your doctor will be able to detect low sodium blood levels, if and when they occur.
