Our Mission
The President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition and First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! initiative launched the “Million PALA Challenge” on September 14, 2010 as a charge to get one million Americans to earn a Presidential Active Lifestyle Award (PALA) by September 14, 2011! The Million PALA Challenge supports the First Lady’s fight to end childhood obesity within a generation by getting more youth and families committed to being active.
Sharecare has partnered with the President’s Challenge program to offer PALA as a part of Dr. Oz’s Move It & Lose It Challenge 2011. To achieve PALA, you must be active at least 5 days a week for 6 out of 8 weeks. Youth (6-17 years) should get moving for at least 60 minutes per day, and adults (18 years or older) should be active for 30 minutes per day. Participants who successfully complete the PALA challenge will receive a certificate of achievement endorsed by sharecare and Emmy award winning, Dr. Oz, and are eligible to purchase a certificate signed by President Obama!
