There are state and federal programs designed to help you find a doctor, but the key is to choose the right physician. During your first visit, there are key questions to consider. When you go to their office, do the other patients … look like you? Are the doctors board certified? Do they get along with the staff? If you get along with them, that person becomes your health coach. Because, remember, the word doctor means teacher, so it's a two-way street. If you come up with the right person, you're on the right path.

How can I find out what hospital a doctor uses?
There are a number of ways to find out where and if a physician has an appointment to a hospital medical staff or, in other words, has admitting privileges at a hospital. Ask the hospital; ask the doctor; check various websites that offer information on doctors. Some doctors, particularly in smaller communities, may have medical staff privileges at more than one hospital.
What is a healthcare provider?
The term provider is generally applied to any person who provides healthcare: doctors, nurses, podiatrists, chiropractors, etc. However, many physicians do not appreciate being labeled providers.Helpful? 1 person found this helpful.
